RENSEP News – Collaboration with Researcher and Video Content Creator Dr. Angela Puca
We at RENSEP recently started a very welcomed collaboration with Angela Puca. In her role as video content creator, Angela will be the mastermind behind RENSEP’s video content. This means, that you will be able to enjoy two new videos every month on our very own YouTube channel !
So, let us introduce Angela. Dr Angela Puca joined Leeds Trinity University in 2016. She has lectured here, as well as at other universities, on Philosophy and Religious Studies. Angela’s degrees are in Philosophy, with special focus on Asian Philosophies. During her academic formation, Angela studied Latin, ancient Greek, Sanskrit, and Tibetan (classical and modern) to translate primary sources of interest from different philosophical and religious traditions. During her master’s degree at the University of Naples, Italy, Angela expanded her knowledge in the field of Religious Studies, especially Buddhism and the Indian and Tibetan religions. Afterwards, her research shifted towards Paganism, shamanism, and their contemporary manifestations across the Italian peninsula.
In 2020, the University of Leeds awarded her a PhD in Anthropology of Religion as a result of her research on “Indigenous and Trans-cultural Shamanism in Italy.” Furthermore, Angela has authored several peer-reviewed publications and a forthcoming monograph on Italian shamanism and folk witchcraft (to be published with Brill). She is also co-editor of the forthcoming ‘Pagan religions in five minutes’ for Equinox. With the former, she hopes to bridge the gap between academia and the communities of magic practitioners by delivering related scholarly content on her YouTube Channel, TikTok and her other social media project called ‘Angela’s Symposium’.
